As much as I dislike Timeless Child for its execution, I actually have warmed up to it conceptually than originally. I think what I respect about Chibnall (I always found his era more over-hated and the criticisms not in the correct places) is that he does have a degree of ambition lacking in some other parts but is just unable to execute it as well as Moffat. My breaking point when I realised fixating on it is a worthless endeavour is when I listened to Neverland/Zagreus/Scherzo and realised lore in Doctor Who is nonsensical and I should just not give a fuck.
We as a society need to give up on a rigid continuity even if it’s contradictory.

My favourite episode of each season from Nu Who:
-1996 Doctor Who TV Movie. Bite me bitches.
S1: Dalek. Made by the same guy who brought you Scherzo.
S2: Love and Monsters. I have a lot of unpopular opinions.
S3: Human Nature/Family of Blood. I have a lot of popular opinions.
S4: Turn Left. My friends hear me talk about this too much for me not to choose it.
S5: The Eleventh Hour. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
S6: The Impossible Astronaut. Actually, this season as a whole is a dud for me. It was between this and the James Corden episode, and I'm not about to give that man a W.
S7: The Rings of Akhaten. Without contest.
S8: Dark Water. With contest a bit. This is also a season where most of the episodes have lots of things I don't like which makes the season as a whole kind of a hit and miss combo. The only episode that I also would genuinely want to rewatch in this season in Deep Breath, and I only like the second half of the episode.
S9: Face the Raven. A ten amongst these threes. I also really like The Husbands of River Song. But nothing can beat Face the Raven. My favourite episode in all the Moffat era.
S10: The Pilot. Honestly, I haven't felt like there was banger after banger after banger since season three. It's hard to choose between these episodes.
And that's it for now. I haven't watched any of the Jodie Whittaker era since it aired besides the first five episodes. I was just thinking to myself what episodes I'd like to rewatch and decided to give myself my "best of" list. With that context, I didn't really need to put the movie since it beats all these episodes for spot of my favourite.

‘Scene to Uncover’
Cody Schell, our cover designer, also wrote ‘Scene to Uncover’ for Forgotten Lives 2, a story of the ambiguous Graeme Harper Doctor. He tells us more…
Tumblr media
What made you want to write for Forgotten Lives 2?
I’ve always loved the idea of the mysterious, and at one time apocryphal, Morbius Doctors, and the mystery they embody. It’s also a worthy cause to fight an illness that has affected my family.
What's your story about?
A darkened theatre in a liminal space in which the Doctor is able to interact with a performance that is actually a two-way communication from the deep past, just after Event One.
What did you most enjoy about writing for this version of the Doctor?
Funny enough, I had some influence on the idea of how this Doctor was developed.  Paul Hanley and I frequently have rambling conversations where we talk about our ideas for characters and fictional worlds, things we will probably never have a chance to write. In light of the Jodie Doctor, we were sort of bemoaning the lack of diversity amongst the Morbius Doctors (although now they feel all very different, after Forgotten Lives 1 and 2)  I jokingly suggested that maybe one of the Doctors was actually female and sometimes wore a ‘slightly psychic beard’ on her adventures. Paul ran with this idea when drawing the Harper Doctor, which in turn influenced Aditya Bidikar’s story in Forgotten Lives 1.  It was great for me to then be able to be influenced by Aditya’s version of this Doctor. It was fun to give this Doctor some backstory, and maybe more importantly explain why we see this lack of gender diversity in Time Lord culture.
What were the influences on your story, and what genre were you writing in?
I loved the idea of doing something about pre-film entertainment, but also something sort of Twilight Zone-ish, where there’s something weird happening and it’s not necessarily sci-fi.  I thought about how unreal the Celestial Toymaker feels and wondered, what if he came from some street outside of time, a street with a toy store, a theatre, a cafe. This is the story of the Fountain Theatre and the Usher in charge of it. Just as the Toymaker has his realm, so does the Usher.
Aside from the one you've used, which of the Forgotten Lives Doctors is your favourite?
The Camfield Doctor is my favourite design of Paul Hanley’s, and I remember Cold Fusion felt like such a special book at the time.  Just in general, Obverse Books tries to carry on the whimsical, experimental weirdness of the ‘Wilderness Years’ more than anyone else publishing Who-y stuff, although the Gary Russell era of Big Finish did a good job of that too. It’s things like Cold Fusion, Verdigris, Scherzo, The Year of the Pig or Sky Pirates! that really made me interested in writing Who-ish stories for myself.
Can you describe your story's Doctor in three words?
Curious, Pensive, Delighted!

I'm not gonna lie: I would love to see Paul as Eight on my screen again. It is a travesty that we didn't get more. The next multi Doctor story better include Eight. I mean, imagine Paul and Jodie together ashfgfgfgh Buuuut, man, Big Finish is sooooo good. And not just as something you turn to when you want more DW. It's, like, legit awesome. Many BF stories are better than the show, and they are great at character development. And man, I looove all those experimental stories. 8 has a great run.
i mean, i’m the last person who’d say i DON’T want more eight on my screen haha. i’m the last person who’d ever say i don’t want more paul mcgann on my screen in general! i could look at this man forever.
Tumblr media
but at the same time, yeah! some of my favorite dw characters (lucie, liv, the eleven etc) and some of my favorite stories too (chimes, scherzo, natural history of fear etc) come from big finish, and that’s favorites from dw in ANY medium.
not just big finish either- i adore eight’s comics and novels too. fitz and izzy are two of my favorite companions, anything written by kate orman is better than anything that’s ever been on the show (not that i dislike the show, she’s just SO GOOD) and for me the eighth doctor of the edas really epitomizes exactly who and what i personally want the doctor to be.
and while i am occasionally sad the tvm didn’t go to series, if it had we wouldn’t have all these brave, unique, creative, BEAUTIFUL things from the eu (and we also probably wouldn’t have new who as it stands today, and since nine is my second favorite doctor i wouldn’t be happy about that either). so as it stands, i’m perfectly content to just listen to/read about eight and get my “paul mcgann’s gorgeous face” fix through his other roles. i don’t lament being an eight fan at all. in fact i feel very lucky that my favorite doctor has so much quality content to his name, technically more than almost any other doctor.
Tumblr media
(though yes, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put him in the next on-screen multi-doctor story, i’d d i e)

The Outcasts - Streaming Italiano Alta Definizione
